4. Information About Minors
Several of our programs involve participants under 18. We take extra care with information about minors:
Parental/Guardian Consent. We collect, use, and store information about a minor only with the knowledge and consent of that minor's parent or legal guardian. A parent or guardian must complete registration, enrollment, and any waiver or intake forms on the minor's behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without a parent or guardian's involvement, and we do not knowingly allow minors to submit our website or lead forms unsupervised.
What We Collect About Minors. For program participants under 18, we may collect the minor's name, age or grade level, emergency contact information, health or safety information relevant to participation (e.g., allergies, injuries, physical limitations), and photos or video taken during classes or events. We collect the parent or guardian's contact information (name, email, phone) as the primary point of contact — a minor's own contact information (personal email or phone) is not required for enrollment.
How We Use This Information. Information about minors is used strictly for program administration, safety and emergency response, coaching and progress tracking, and communicating with the parent/guardian about the program. We do not use a minor's information for behavioral advertising or targeted marketing directed at the minor, and we do not knowingly sell or share a minor's information with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
Photos & Media. If we plan to use photos or video of a minor for marketing purposes (e.g., our website, social media, or promotional materials), we will obtain separate, explicit consent from the parent or guardian before doing so. Parents/guardians may decline or withdraw this consent at any time.
Data Retention. We retain a minor's information only as long as needed for program administration, safety recordkeeping, and any legal or insurance requirements, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
Parental Rights. A parent or legal guardian may, at any time:
- Review the personal information we hold about their child
- Request corrections to that information
- Request deletion of their child's information, subject to any records we are legally required to retain
- Withdraw consent for future collection or use of their child's information (which may limit or end the child's ability to participate in a program)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11. If we learn that we have collected a minor's information without appropriate parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
